If your golf ball lands on the wrong putting green, or near an immovable obstruction that interferes with your golf swing, or on an abnormal ground condition, you can move your golf ball to the nearest point of relief without penalty. What does that mean?
1. The ball may be moved “No” nearer to the hole
2. Address the ball with the golf club that you intend to hit the shot and determine the best direction and nearest point to move the ball so that the interfering obstruction is eliminated
4. Mark the point of nearest relief with a Tee
5. Using a club from your bag, measure 1 club length from the nearest relief point that you marked with a Tee and mark the drop point with a Tee
6. Face the green holding your arm straight out to your side at shoulder height and drop the golf ball between the nearest relief Tee and the Drop Tee that you placed in the ground.
7. Once the ball lands on the ground, it can roll up to an additional two club lengths before coming to rest
8. The ball must be re-dropped if it rolls nearer to the hole, back onto a putting green, into a hazard, out of bounds, or back into the interfering position for which are taking the drop for in the first place
