PGA pro Joe Durant gives a golf lesson explaining how amateurs can achieve more consistent ball striking. Bad shots begin with a poor setup which leads to an incorrect backswing which you try to compensate for on the downswing which sends the golf ball off in the wrong direction. Work on the fundamentals of posture and alignment. Get setup correctly in the first place and then work on getting a correct backswing. Then you won’t have to compensate for anything on the downswing and you’ll be much more likely to hit a good golf shot. The easiest way to accomplish this is with an educated instructor who can ensure you understand the basics and then you can build from there.

A valuable post indeed. I am not able to strike the ball properly. May be the problem is with my golf gloves. But as you have said, I will have to sincerely work on my fundamentals to get a consistent ball striking.
