*Golf Tips Magazine — The Sponge Drill

January 6th, 2009 · No Comments

In this golf lesson, PGA pro Jeff Ritter demonstrates a good way to get the feel for and visualize your arms turning around your body properly. During the backswing, your left arm bicep should be pressing somewhat firmly against your chest and during the follow through, your right arm bicep should be pressing somewhat firmly against your chest. To help solidify that action, put a sponge underneath the top of your left arm and visualize squeezing water out of the sponge on the backswing. Do the same with the right arm and visualize squeezing water out of the sponge on the follow through. Practice doing this drill with a half or 3/4 swing to get the proper feel of your arms turning around your body.
