Joe Williams from the Indian Wells Golf Resort explains how to setup and execute a standard bunker shot as well as the the buried or “fried egg” plugged bunker shot.
Standard Bunker Shot
1. Open the stance so the body is aiming slightly left of the target and open the clubface so it is aiming at the target.
2. Hit 1″-2″ behind the golf ball and make a full finish throwing sand up onto the green.
Fried Egg Shot
1. Setup with your stance slightly closed and the clubface slightly closed at well.
2. Hit down on the ball more steeply and have an abbreviated finish.
note: you cannot create spin on this shot and it will release and you won’t be able to stop it.
