How to Correctly Grip the Golf Club

November 21st, 2008 · No Comments

Michael Lamanna from the Troon golf course in Scottsdale Arizona gives a video lesson on how to grip the golf club correctly.
A correct golf grip gives you 3 advantages when you swing.
1. The grip controls the clubface which helps you hit it straight as well as solid.
2. A correct grip allows you to create more wrist tension so you’ll be more powerful.
3. A correct grip allows you to feel where the club is throughout the swing while your eyes are focused on the ball. This allows you to maximize power and control.
Michael uses reference points which he has drawn on his fingers and golf glove to demonstrate how the golf grip is placed correctly in each hand. Michael also demonstrates grip techniques that link the hands together and enable them to function as one unit such as the interlocking grip, the Varden grip or the 10 finger grip. Lastly he explains that the best grip pressure on a scale of 1-10 is a 3-4.
