PGA Golf Pro Roger Gunn - How to Practice Golf

August 9th, 2007 · No Comments

Roger explains how to practice effectively.

Making the most use of the little time that you have to actually practice; break your practice into 2 halves. The Scoring Game first and then the Long Game.

1. The Scoring Game (The Important Part of Practice)
Pick one aspect of your short game and focus on it.
Chipping, Short Game Shots, Bunker Shots, Putting, Rough, and anything inside 50 yards. Always practice your scoring game first before the Long Game to ensure that you fit it in and don’t miss it.

2. The Full Swing Long Game. Hitting well is fine, but without a good short game, you won’t score well which is what everyone wants at the end of the day.

At some time when you’re a low handicapper, you should be able to focus less on technique and more on quality shot practice for example if you’re practicing chipping, throw a handful of balls into the grass by the green and play them as they lie so that you change your swing and acclimate accordingly just like when you’re playing your game on the golf course.
