Practice your short game to lower your score – pitching tip

August 22nd, 2007 · No Comments

To drop strokes and improve your score, your time is best spent improving your short game; pitching, chipping, and putting.
A pitch shot is anything out to about 60 yards.
How to setup for a pitch shot. A pitch shot requires a “mini” swing.
1. Use your highest a lob wedge or a sand wedge.
2. Use a slightly open and narrow stance.
3. Ball in middle of stance. (Drawing a line down your toes will make a body line that points to the left of the target and the ball goes in the middle of your stance perpendicular to your body line.
4. Weight on front foot.
5. Choke down on the golf grip
6. Creat a mini swing by using a wristy abbreviated swing where you use much less shoulder and body rotation and the forearms fully rotate and the wrists hinge completely.
