The 5 Step Green Reading Process

September 5th, 2007 · No Comments

Jeff Ritter shows you a simple 5 step process to reading greens with ease!
1. As you approach the hole, determine where the downhill direction is. Imagine if water were coming out of the hole, which way the water would run.
2. Stand behind the hole and look back toward your golf ball. Visualize how the ball will break as it approaches the hole.
3. As you walk back from the hole to the ball, feel the slope of the green in your feet so you know how the slope is both where the ball is and where the hole is and along the way.
4. Stand behind the ball and look back toward the hole and visualize again how the ball is going to break.
5. The most important step called the “Shift Technique”. Step from behind your ball to the left a couple of feet to change the angle you’re looking at the hole, and then stand behind your ball and then step to the right a couple of feet. Looking down the line at these different angles will help you more easily see the break than just standing behind your golf ball alone.

Breakthrough putting secrets revealed.
